Car & Personality Profiling

New Chapter 2024: Glide Driving

What was missing from the first addition of Glide Driving is a Chapter called “Special and Spatial Awareness”.  Very simply, it’s an organized awareness of the objects in the space around us, and also an awareness of our body’s position in that space.

Special awareness is using your brain to view the road ahead, behind and on both sides of yourself. While viewing you are simultaneously thinking about the kind of cars that are around and more.

“Special and Spatial Awareness”. Also leads to something I call Car & Personality Profiling. Let’s just focus on the kind of car and the personality of the driver. I call that “Car Profiling”. Cars like a Dodge Charger, Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang, BMW are brands that attract aggressive drivers who will speed and cut you off without looking. One must be aware of these cars and their drivers because they exhibit aggressive personalities. One must be prepare to give more space around these vehicles so the crazy behavior from these drivers will not cause you to have an accident, avoiding their selfish aggressive behavior. Which is motivated by speed and selfishness. The cars and the personality are intertwined into the character of the person and that is why they drive such a car in the first place.

Your second focus will be large pick-up trucks, Truck owners tend to think they own the road at all times… These behemoths have the size and attitude that can cause an accident just looking at them. These trucks: Ford 150s, Ram 2500s and Chevy Tahoe’s believe they are working and own the road. It just plain scary when a Big Black truck pulls aside you and cuts you off like your not even there.

Thirdly one must be also on the look out for senior drivers who drive Totoya Corolla, Totoya Camry and Lexus ES 350’s and other similar cars of senior drivers. They tend to be slower driver and drive slower regardless of what lane they are in. Case in point: I followed a Totoya Corolla driver in the left lane…the lane for faster drivers, for some time but realized this car wanted to make a left turn miles before they actually make this turn. This is a prime example of senior behavior. I also witnessed a Camry driver in the left lane for miles because they want to make a left turn someday soon. Senior divers are dangerous because they have slow reflects and tend to not be looking in their mirrors and are easily distracted. Again one must use your special awareness to become defensive drive One must also use Spatial Awareness to follow some in the left lane, it’s usually a fast lane fro traffic.  One must keep your eyes constantly scanning the road for all kinds of drivers…

When driving and scanning be aware of drivers who don’t fall into the car profiles in I have provided, but they will exhibit similar behaviors as the ones mentioned above. Using Special Awareness takes brainpower and almost all of us can be trainer to use Special Awareness to our benefit to keep us safe and enjoy driving. Your state of mind has a big influence on your driving, if your pissed off your going to make decisions that will not benefit you.

Be aware of the car profiles and small sport cars these aggressive drivers will cut you off without thinks about you or the traffic around them and you. These driver will usually come up behind up usually in your blind spot. They have one thing on their mind get there fast, and the hell with safety or other cars. These aggressive drivers are most likely not driving small cars and trucks they are driving cars with powerful engines or powerful EVs like Tesla Plain model.

The best thing to do when being cut off by one of these super aggressive drivers is to slow down give this crazy person a bigger slot to cut through traffic and maybe it will save you and your car. These ideas are from both the special and the spatial awareness chapter in Glide Driving’ Use these ideas and facts to stay safe…

To get into a zone of special & spatial awareness one must start your driving with the idea of awareness. It does not mean you cannot listen to your favorite music and enjoy your drive. One must not be thinking about the other stuff in your life that is lingering about in your life: Such as a fight with your spouse, or one with your children or a work problem. Glide Driving is about the getting into the correct state of mind for optimal driving. One can still enjoy a book on DVD or listen to music, but let’s keep your hands on the steering-wheel, your eyes down the road, use you eyes to check your mirror’s, and have your head into the Glide Driving game!
